PGD compatibility v6.5.0

PGD compatibility with Postgres versions

The following table shows the minimum minor version, per major version, that EDB Postgres Distributed (PGD) 6 is compatible with, across Postgres, EDB Postgres Extended (PGE), and EDB Postgres Advanced Server (EPAS).

PGD 6PostgresEDB Postgres ExtendedEDB Postgres Advanced Server
618.1.0+18.6.0+18.1.0+
617.5.0+17.5.0+17.5.0+
616.9.0+16.9.0+16.9.0+
615.13.0+15.13.0+15.13.0+
614.18.0+14.18.0+14.18.0+
Important

PGD 6.5.0 and later require EDB Postgres Extended 18.6.0 or later. PGD 6.0 through 6.4 aren't compatible with EDB Postgres Extended 18.6.0 or later and must stay on EDB Postgres Extended 18.1.0 through 18.5.x. If you're running Postgres 18, upgrade PGD and EDB Postgres Extended together to avoid landing on an unsupported combination.

Note

This 18.6.0 restriction doesn't affect running PGD on community Postgres, and EDB Postgres Advanced Server already allows bdr by default regardless of version. If you're upgrading to a community Postgres minor version that introduces the new output_plugin_libraries parameter (14.24, 15.19, 16.15, 17.11, or 18.6, depending on your major version), add bdr to it and reload the configuration, or PGD's replication slots stop working. See Postgres configuration for the required setting and instructions.

EDB recommends that you use the latest minor version of any Postgres major version with a supported PGD.
